It just keeps getting better

Well, needless to say a SH*T storm has erupted due to my censorship on the AA board.  I let several of my AA friends know, and they in turn sent the moderators letters of support.  In the meantime, the moderators were, in my humble opinion, very condesending and threatening in their responses.  At one point I was told my comments re: the in-country attorney asking for and receiving tips were SLANDER and if he were a US citizen I would be open to a lawsuit.  WTF???

Oh, but it gets better yet.  When several of my friends tried to post to the board at-large that I was being censored and it was wrong, their posts were censored.

And here’s the most disturbing of all: they just CLOSED THE BOARD TO ALL COMMENTS.  Is that how adults deal with a little conflict now? Crazy.  All because of some honesty and questioning.  Alida, I do think you’re right girl.  You hit the nail on the head with your comments (see prior posting.)

So, if you are a Tree of Life, Dove, or AA family: party over here  on our new, non-judgmental, free from moderation and censorship yahoo group.

  • Oh my-
Alida has it so right. This type of censorship is very Communistic. I know the Moderators would never see it that way, but they’re setting an example for future posters to watch what they say. Who wants to walk on eggshells like that in a country that honors free speech? The truth is often hard to hear, yes, and it may upset folks, but it certainly should be said. AND people need to be more tolerant of others viewpoints.
I swear there is something FISHY going on… I smell day old trout!

  • Unfortunately, this is how many adults do deal with conflict. Bleh. No one should be able to erase your personal experience.

  • Jill Christine, I have to say I agree with you! Something fishy is going on with why the moderators have put Meg on moderated status with no warning and condeming her for being truthful, while in the same breath being as supportive as she can to all the PAP’s!!! I think there is more to this picutre that they aren’t talking about….It does smell like day old trout…. :)

  • Grrr.

these yahoo groups get very tiring sometimes. I mean, there’s good things about them but adoption is suuuch a loaded issue, esp international adoption that drama can happen really fast.

I hate that they moderated you. Hate it. But at the same time, I do enjoy the fact that the board remains drama free… dude. Not sure how to feel about all this???

I personally felt like Abebe was on the edge, ethics-wise, and that I had to be submissive and long-suffering and get in his “good graces” in order to not deal with drama. But he started by making me feel like absolute crap, so. I was a bad moment, our first meeting. Got better after that. Ethiopia overall was an overwhelmign experience… I’m glad the next time we go won’t be for adoption but a real trip, see the people, see the place. Someday.

  • Meg

Just the mere fact that they shut it down tells me that they DO have something to hide or be ashamed of.

  • Meg, I’m sorry to have to say this …. but I do know MY PEOPLE, unfortunately … or sometimes even fortunately :) …. this is very bad business and it only alienates every client, making it seem like there’s a big elephant in the closet, when maybe it’s just a mouse … because where there is smoke, there is a fire .. anyway, don’t worry girl …. you got our support and you already got another group going …. just leave all this behind you and concentrate on looking forward from here on out … you’re conscience should be clear because you did the right thing of informing families, which that’s what a board is for: INFORMATION (good, bad, ugly … whatever it may be) …. not agency propaganda!!!
